Easy Camera Matcher
add-on
Match a 3D camera to your photo to add 3D elements to footage or reconstruct a 3D scene from a photo.
Just draw a few perspective lines, set the scene origin and scale and you're done! Easy, fast and accurate.
Features
- Exact matching - The camera gets matched to your footage so that when adding 3D objects, their perspective and scale match perfectly.
- Real-time - See your camera update as you draw.
- Scene reconstruction - Easily reconstruct a 3D scene with your image projected onto the geometry.
- Lens distortion - Remove the lens distortion of your footage to get a perfect camera match.
Intuitive controls - Keyboard shortcuts, a clean UI and visual guides make the process simple and smooth.
How it works
Select the image or video that you want to match the 3D camera to and hold ctrl to draw x, y and z perspective lines onto the image. The 3D camera location, rotation, focal length and lens shift gets calculated automatically in real time.
After drawing the perspective lines (you can draw more lines for increased accuracy) you can move the camera origin with G and set the scene scale with S. You can use the reference model of a person or a 1m cube as reference to set the scene scale. (Scale the reference model with shift+s).
If you draw perspective lines for just 1 axis, the camera is solved but you need to enter the focal length manually. After drawing at least 2 perspective lines for 2 axis, the focal length gets set automatically. After drawing 2 lines for all 3 axis, even the camera lens shift can be calculated for cropped photos.
After matching your camera, you can project the photo or video onto your 3D geometry with the 'Project image' button. This will create a special material where the image or video gets projected onto the geometry from the camera view in realtime, similar to using the 'UV Project' modifier, but better because it doesn't use UVs which can deform and stretch the image. The image projection is fully dynamic so you can keep editing the mesh without the need to uv-unwrap the mesh at all.
Scene reconstruction
Whether you just want to add 3D elements to a photo or completely reconstruct a 3D scene, this addon is ideal for you. Easily match the real world scale and project the footage onto geometry to get results quickly.
Remove lens distortion
Remove the lens distortion from your image with accurate parameters and useful guide liens and save an undistorted image with a single button.
Object tracking
If you want to track moving objects for a visual effects shot (which you can do with the Polychase addon) you first need to match the camera. This addon was actually created for that purpose.
This addon is inspired by fSpy. If you're familiar with that tool, you'll enjoy having that feature right inside of Blender.
This addon works on Windows, Mac and Linux with Blender 4.3 or newer (Blender 5.2 ready).
