Guidelines for add-on creators πŸ”—

Thank you for choosing BlenderKit to sell and share your add-ons!

All add-ons go through validation before becoming public. To ensure your add-on is successfully validated, please follow these guidelines:

Code quality πŸ”—

  • We only accept free and one-time paid Blender add-ons in the Blender extensions format.
  • Add-ons must include and comply with the latest Blender Extension Manifest specification.
  • All code and file inclusions must strictly comply with their respective licenses. Any licensing breach is grounds for immediate add-on removal.
  • Do not obfuscate the code or upload it as binaries, since these cannot be reviewed by us and thus cannot be offered to our users via the extensions API.
  • Add-ons with major bugs will not be accepted unless the creator fixes the issues. Please, test your add-on before uploading!
  • Add-ons must be fully functional with the Blender versions mentioned in the add-on description. We strongly recommend uploading add-ons compatible with the latest Blender version and the latest LTS version.
  • Do not add maximum blender version to your manifest file if you don’t need it. Your extension could unnecessarilly be blocked in new versions of Blender.

Blender Extension format

Usefullness πŸ”—

  • Add-ons must be capable of performing everything claimed in the add-on description and thumbnail.
  • One-asset, one-button, and other one-function add-ons will only be accepted if they are proved to be crucial for users. We only accept truly useful tools.

AI rules πŸ”—

While there is an ongoing discussion about how we should approach AI generally on our platform, we had to set some rules by now. These might change in the future.

  • While AI thumbnails are tolerated, we do not recommend them due to (understandable) negative reactions from our community.
  • AI generators will not be accepted to the library.

Customer communication rules πŸ”—

  • If an add-on requires downloading files from other sources, registration, or license(s), you must include the various requirements in the add-on description.
  • Add-ons that receive repeated user complaints will be removed from our library unless the creator fixes the issues and offers resolution to all warranty claims.
