The Fishing Spider is a species of spider native to North America. Also known as Dolomedes, it belongs to the predatory spider family. Fishing spiders live near bodies of water such as rivers, lakes and ponds. They are known to walk on water to catch insects and other prey. Their legs are covered with small hairs that allow them to stay on the water's surface without sinking. Although fishing spiders are very large, they are not usually dangerous to humans. They are shy and will only attack if they feel threatened. However, if you live near bodies of water and are afraid of spiders, you should be careful and stay away from them.
