A stylized alien coral designed for underwater environments, created as part of a personal Unity project and a larger Sea Model Pack. A cluster of hollow, tube-like stalks rising from a shared rocky base, designed to be scattered around hydrothermal vent areas on the seabed.
Design & Concept
The organism consists of several hollow cylindrical stalks of varying heights, each open at the top and dotted with smaller pores along the sides — consistent with a creature adapted to filtering or venting hot water. The stalks are covered in reddish fibrous moss, chosen to visually suggest an organism acclimated to higher temperature environments near thermal vents.
Textures & Materials
The model uses two materials. The coral stalks use a fully baked texture set under the "Ventstalks" material. The moss is a CC0 material sourced from Poly Haven, with its coloring tuned toward red to better suit the thermal vent aesthetic and tie it into the overall design language of the pack.
Polycount
This model sits on the higher end at approximately 82k faces. It is not animated.
Part of the Sea Model Pack
Created alongside the Alien Kelp, Chimney Mushroom, Net Pod, and Spine Mushroom as part of a cohesive set of stylized underwater organisms.
Ideal for alien ocean floors, hydrothermal vent environments, sci-fi underwater scenes, and stylized deep-sea biomes.
