Stylized rigged character inspired by Ankylosaurus. Ankylosaurus (“fused lizard”) was a large armored herbivorous dinosaur from the late Cretaceous, about 68 – 66 million years ago. First described in 1908 by Barnum Brown, its fossils are known from formations such as Hell Creek and Lance. No complete skeleton has been found, but estimates place its size between 6 and 9 meters in length and up to 8 tons in weight, making it one of the largest ankylosaurids. Its body was covered in bony armor with small rounded spikes. Like its relative Euoplocephalus, Ankylosaurus had a complex nasal system that may have helped with thermoregulation, enhanced smell, or even sound resonance. Today, it remains a popular dinosaur in documentaries, books, and films such as Jurassic Park III and Jurassic World.
