Chimney Mushroom — Alien Underwater Organism
A hand-sculpted alien mushroom designed for underwater environments, created as part of a personal Unity project and a larger Sea Model Pack. Its most distinctive feature is the hollow shaft running from the wide, funnel-shaped cap all the way down through the trunk — the detail that inspired its name.
Textures & Materials
Sculpted at multiple resolution levels, then simplified down to a game-ready mesh with the detail baked into normal, displacement, roughness, and diffuse maps.
Design
The cap is broad and bowl-shaped with an irregular, organic rim, opening upward like a chimney mouth. The stalk narrows at the midsection before flaring out into a gnarled base that anchors it to the seabed. Surface detail across the cap and trunk gives it a textured, biological feel somewhere between coral and deep-sea fungus.
Intended Functionality
The hollow chimney shaft was designed to serve as an emission point for a spore particle system — spores drifting upward out of the cap in a slow, continuous plume, reinforcing the chimney metaphor and adding life to the surrounding scene.
Part of the Sea Model Pack
Created alongside the Alien Kelp and other underwater organism models as a cohesive set of stylized underwater organisms, built for use in real-time environments. You should be able to find a lot of these models on my creator page.
Ideal for alien ocean floors, sci-fi underwater scenes, deep-sea biomes, and stylized nature environments.
