Release notes 3.12.2 🔗

We are thrilled to announce the release of BlenderKit 3.12.2! This update brings several crucial improvements and fixes to enhance your Blender experience. Below are the highlights of this release:

Improvements 🔗

📦 Make the Add-on Ready for Blender 4.2 Extensions: To keep you updated with the latest features, our add-on now supports the new extensions format introduced in Blender 4.2. #1154 #1231 #1233

  • For ideal experience with extensions: update BlenderKit to 3.12.2 before updating the Blender to 4.2. Then when you start Blender 4.2 just select Import Blender (4.1/4.0/3.x) Preferences. Other option is to clean install Blender 4.2 and install the BlenderKit 3.12.2 from the .zip file.
  • The auto-updater will continue installing into the legacy path, which will work just fine. However, to install as an extension, please do so manually from the .zip file. If BlenderKit is already installed in legacy add-on format, remove it before installing it as extension from the .zip.
  • Due to changes in the Blender 4.2 API, BlenderKit 3.12.0 and 3.12.1 may fail to load in Blender 4.2. If this occurs, please remove the add-on and install 3.12.2 manually from the zip.

⚠️ Add Warning for Non-Stable Blender Releases: Users will now receive a warning when uploading public assets in non-stable Blender releases. We encourage using the Stable version of Blender to ensure the stability of assets for future releases. #1230

Fixes 🔗

📂 Fix Open Directory Button on Assets with Long Names: The get_asset_directory_name() function has been synchronized in both the add-on and the client, fixing the Open Directory issue for all assets. #1203

🖱️ Fix Double Click on Resolution Menu: Resolved an issue where double-clicking on the resolution menu could propagate down to the asset bar, causing an unwanted double download in rare cases. This second download is now prevented. #787

🔧 Fix Import Error in asset_drag_op.py: Corrected the import of ui_panels in asset_drag_op.py, fixing an error that affected some asset types. The import now functions as expected. #1128
