BlenderKit is moving 🔗
Since Blender 3.0 release we are moving the BlenderKit add-on to our website. This means 2 extra clicks for you, because you will now have to download the add-on from web, you will no longer find it directly in Blender 3D after downloading.
At the same time, this brings us a lot of new features and many great improvements for you. For example, the add-on already has an automatic update in it, so you'll only have to download it from the web the first time. After that, you should have it available in newer versions of Blender 3D you install, as long as you confirm to keep your settings from previous versions.
Why now?
We've been considering to have a version of the add-on outside the Blender release for some time. The rather strict rules for included add-ons didn't allow us to use some libraries that would have saved us a lot of work and at the same time would have brought a lot of good things to our users.
What has pushed us to take this step now is the fact that the Blender Foundation has officially ended its 'commercial add-on offering', which was an offering where from a certain level of contributing to the Blender Development Fund, companies like ours could include their add-on in a Blender release. Along with our add-on, SketchFab, Archipack and a few other add-ons are moving. We have to thank the Blender Foundation for allowing us to use this offering for several years, as it has allowed us to grow and meet our goals. We are currently contributing 2.500 Euro per month to the BDF and are succeeding in our mission to support open-source.
